Acai Bowl Brunch Bar

Our family is all about that bar life – DIY breakfast bars that is.

Avocado Toast Bar. Biscuit Bar. Pancake Bar. And introducing the most beloved of them all, our Acai Bowl Bar.

Our guests absolutely LOVE to customize their own bowls and pile the toppings as high as the sky!  Plus, it’s super healthy and a fun change from the typical breakfast spreads!

You can offer as many toppings as your heart desires. To minimize prep, use fruit that doesn't need to be cut - raspberries, blackberries, bananas (just leave them out and have people spoon them into their bowls!). Strawberries are a must in the DesJardin household, so it’s a lot easier knowing that’s all I need to chop beforehand! For the other toppings, I basically empty out our pantry: coconut flakes, sliced almonds, honey, sunflower seeds, nut butters, granola, the list goes on!

Level up even further by pairing with your favorite cup of coffee, and you’ll find yourself basking in the morning glow of breakfast nirvana.

Acai-Blueberry Base (scale as needed, recipe below serves 2)

  • 2 cups frozen blueberries
  • 1 packet of frozen acai
  • ¼ cup of water

Possible Topping Combinations (perfect time to empty out your pantry!)

  • 2 – 3 fresh fruit toppings (i.e. sliced strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, bananas)
  • Granola
  • Nuts and seeds (i.e. sliced almonds, unsalted sunflower seeds, chia seeds)
  • Sweet toppings (i.e. coconut flakes, honey, agave nectar)
  • Nut butters (almond butter, peanut butter)
    1. Set up “DIY station” with chosen toppings. When serving this to a crowd, I basically empty out my pantry and try to stick with fruit that I don’t have to chop beforehand (less work for me!)
      2. Run frozen acai for a few seconds under warm water to break it up a bit.
        3. Blend frozen blueberries and acai with ¼ cup of water. Continue to add more until you reach desired consistency. You’ll want a thick, sorbet-like texture.

          4. Serve immediately with coffee!

Five years ago, MAKKER co-founder, Anna, began developing a family cookbook consisting of recipes she found all over the Internet. Each recipe has been perfected until it passes the “Would I serve this to guests” test and is DesJardin Family-approved. Now, Anna will be passing these treasures onto you! “Anna’s Test Kitchen” will be your go-to for tasty drinks that can be made with your single-serve brewer and delicious foods that pair perfectly with coffee!
